Air Threat. What Is Important to Know and How to Act

The Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior has prepared and provided an information guide for residents, “Air Threat. What Is Important to Know and How to Act?”.

What is an air threat?

An air threat alert is a warning message sent to residents’ mobile phones when it is determined or considered likely that objects that may pose a threat to people’s safety could enter or are already present in Lithuanian airspace.

The warning message indicates the threat level, the corresponding colour (yellow, red, yellow after red, or white), and recommended actions. The decision to send an air threat warning message is made by the Lithuanian Armed Forces, which monitors the country’s airspace. Upon receiving such a decision, the Fire and Rescue Department sends a warning message to residents.

When you receive a warning message, always follow the instructions provided in it. The recommendations in this guide are intended to help you better prepare for emergency situations, but in a specific situation, first follow the instructions provided in the warning message.
