On 25 July 2026, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the 75th anniversary event of Rėkyva Culture House, “Rėkyva Carp”, will take place in the park of the Šiauliai Culture Centre Rėkyva Culture House (Energetikų St. 7). The celebration organised for the anniversary will invite visitors to remember the history of Rėkyva Culture House, while a photography exhibition, concert programme, educational activities, gastronomic heritage experiences and community initiatives will invite visitors of all ages to celebrate this significant anniversary together and rediscover the uniqueness of Rėkyva.
Organised by Šiauliai Culture Centre. The event is free of charge.

On 25 July, the park of Rėkyva Culture House will become a place where the past and present meet. As the 75th anniversary of its activities is celebrated, not only the journey of Rėkyva Culture House, but also the history and people of this area will be remembered. The name of the event, “Rėkyva Carp”, was not chosen by chance – it invites visitors to look back at the Karpiai Manor that once existed in Rėkyva, whose historical legacy remains an important part of the area’s identity to this day.

“The 75th anniversary celebration of Rėkyva Culture House, ‘Rėkyva Carp’, is not only a celebration of a beautiful anniversary, but also an invitation for those who cherish Rėkyva, its people and cultural life to come together. Everyone will be able to find their own special moment at the celebration – to remember the past, enjoy the present and create new memories together that will become part of Rėkyva’s history,” says Deimantė Bačiulė, Director of Šiauliai Culture Centre.

Today, the history of Rėkyva Culture House spans 75 years, but its origins go much further back – to the time when this site was still part of Rėkyva Manor. The present Culture House is located on the former territory of Rėkyva Manor, while its main hall is housed in a former manor outbuilding that belonged to the Karpiai family, who owned Rėkyva Manor for several centuries. As times changed, the building acquired a new purpose – from a manor outbuilding, it became a place where the community gathered and Rėkyva’s cultural life began to develop.

On 1 May 1951, the Rėkyva power plant club “Energetikas” opened its doors here, marking the beginning of organised cultural activities in Rėkyva. Soon afterwards, a mixed choir and drama group were established, followed in 1955 by a brass band, which became an important part of local cultural life.

As the community grew and activities expanded, the building was extended in 1967 – another hall, rehearsal rooms, a library and staff offices were added. Since 1987, Rėkyva Culture House has been part of the Šiauliai city cultural system, and since 2009 it has operated as the Šiauliai Culture Centre Rėkyva Culture House.

On Saturday afternoon, the park of Rėkyva Culture House will be filled with encounters, music and a sense of community. Visitors will not only have an opportunity to discover the history of the Culture House, but also to take part in various activities inviting them to stop, spend time together and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Visitors will be able to explore a space dedicated to the history and memories of Rėkyva Culture House – the outdoor photography exhibition “75 Years of Rėkyva Culture House”, presenting the most important moments of cultural life accumulated over the decades, community members, artistic groups and memorable occasions.

Throughout the event, participants will be able to take part in creative workshops, community games and quizzes, watch an educational fish soup cooking programme and taste the soup. Young participants will be invited to enjoy creative activities, while a food and drink area will provide a welcoming space to spend time with family and friends.

The festive atmosphere will be enhanced by a concert programme featuring performers loved by listeners of different generations. To mark the 75th anniversary of Rėkyva Culture House, young performer Patricija Ruzaitė – a superfinalist of the television project “The Voice of Lithuania”, who captivates audiences with her powerful vocals and sincere stage presence – will perform on stage. Her concert will offer a musical journey filled with sensitive melodies, energy and good spirits.

Later, the stage will be taken by Steponas Januška – one of Lithuania’s most prominent popular music and jazz performers, whose music has united listeners of different generations for more than four decades. His songs will invite audiences to remember familiar melodies, immerse themselves in live music and experience a special atmosphere of togetherness.

A special moment of the celebration will be the community initiative “The Great Rėkyva Carp Photo”. In a photography area specially created for the event, featuring a stylised Rėkyva carp decoration, all participants will be invited to pose for a group photograph. This shared moment will symbolically commemorate the 75th anniversary celebration and become a living memory of the people who shape the identity of Rėkyva Culture House today.
