Rėkyva Culture House’s 75th Anniversary Celebration Brought Together the Community and Memories

On 25 July 2026, Rėkyva Culture House celebrated its 75th anniversary with an event that brought the community together and commemorated seven decades of cultural activity. The event “Rėkyva Carp”, held on Saturday in the park of Rėkyva Culture House, became an opportunity to look back at the history of the Culture House, remember the people thanks to whom this place became an important gathering space for the Rėkyva community, and celebrate together what is being created today. Music, memories, various activities and a sense of community invited everyone to spend the afternoon together and once again experience how many stories are contained within the 75-year journey of Rėkyva Culture House.
Organised by Šiauliai Culture Centre.

From the very beginning of the afternoon, the park of Rėkyva Culture House was filled with festive activity. Visitors were welcomed with various activities – they could visit the outdoor photography exhibition “75 Years of Rėkyva Culture House”, take part in creative activities, taste fish soup, and capture a shared memory in a specially created photography area featuring a stylised Rėkyva carp decoration.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Rėkyva Culture House, those gathered were greeted by Deimantė Bačiulė, Director of Šiauliai Culture Centre, and Vincas Urbonavičius, Adviser to the Mayor of Šiauliai City Municipality. Their words of congratulations expressed gratitude to the community and the people who have created and nurtured the cultural life of this place over many years, as well as wishes for it to remain an open, vibrant space that continues to bring people together.

“Dear community, this year we are celebrating 75 years of cultural identity and cultural vitality. And how did it come about? Thanks to all of us. Governments changed, people changed, but the essence never disappeared – the essence is to gather, to be together, as we are today, to do something, to hear one another, to communicate, perhaps to organise another meeting. We are celebrating local history. Let us be here today, let us be here tomorrow, because the vitality of this place depends on us. Be together, celebrate, this day is yours,” said Deimantė Bačiulė, Director of Šiauliai Culture Centre.

During the celebration, Vincas Urbonavičius, Adviser to the Mayor of Šiauliai City Municipality, also delivered a congratulatory address, emphasising the importance of the traditions fostered here and the community on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Rėkyva Culture House: “On the occasion of this anniversary, I would like to wish the Rėkyva community and Rėkyva Culture House to continue these traditions and build the community. I would like all residents of Rėkyva to gather here with pleasure, for your community evenings to be enriching and meaningful and, of course, for the traditions you have created to continue. Happy celebration, Rėkyva and the Rėkyva community,” said Vincas Urbonavičius, Adviser to the Mayor of Šiauliai City Municipality.

The festive afternoon continued with music. Patricija Ruzaitė was the first to take the stage, captivating the audience with her powerful vocals, energy and sincere stage presence. The performer’s appearance became a beautiful start to the evening, inviting listeners to enjoy live music and a warm atmosphere.

Between the concerts, there was no shortage of opportunities to come together – participants were invited to test their knowledge in a quiz, play games and win prizes. Later, Steponas Januška took the stage – one of Lithuania’s most prominent popular and jazz music performers, whose songs brought back familiar melodies and engaged listeners of different generations. His performance became one of the most memorable moments of the evening and once again demonstrated the powerful emotional impact of music.

The culmination of the event was the community initiative “The Great Rėkyva Carp Photo”. Participants who gathered for a group photograph created a symbolic memory of the 75th anniversary – a shared moment capturing today’s Rėkyva community and the people who are creating the next chapter in the history of Rėkyva Culture House.
