Opening celebration of the city's birthday: Šiauliai has been shining for 787 years

In 2023 on September 8, the city festival "Šiauliai days 787" was greeted with noise. One of the most important highlights of the birthday was the festive procession and the parade of the motorized convoy. This year, around 5,000 participants took part in the procession, joined by a loud and boisterous motorcade of more than 160 vehicles. The stage of the central park of the Šiauliai estuary was overcrowded with the abundance of Šiauliai residents and guests of the city, the opening event of the festival "Singing Šiauliai" resounded, and the Song Park became a magical place where you could immerse yourself in the enchanting world of magic. More events took place in the city: there was no shortage of festivals, exhibitions, excursions, educational activities and other entertainment.

On September 8, the streets of Šiauliai came alive from the morning. Throughout the day, events organized by the main organizer of the festival, Šiauliai Cultural Center, and other city institutions took place. The festive event "Šiaulių tourism street 2023" was open all day, the performances of the XIV Children's and Youth Theater Festival-Creative Laboratory "Baltoji varnelė" program, the amateur art festival "Rudens mozaika 2023" and the ensemble parade "Crazy accordion" also attracted the attention of the curious. .

One of the most important highlights of the opening of the city festival "Šiaulių dienos 787" was the festive procession and motorized column parade, in which 5,000 pedestrians marched, and more than 160 vehicles drove next to them. The participants marched cheerfully and noisily from Žaliūkių st. to Tilžės st., then traveled along Kaštonoi aleja until reaching the final point - the platform of Šiauliai city's central park.

The city's largest cultural space under the open sky came to life again - there was music, laughter echoed and people were bustling - the stage became the venue for the opening event of the city festival "Šiaulių dienos 787". The main highlight of the celebration was the performance of the choirs of the educational institutions of the city of Šiauliai and the performance of all Šiauliai residents, and the performance of 3 songs by Gytis Paškevičius and Liuds Mikalauskas - "Lietua" (music and lyrics by Kipras Mašanauskas), "Mano kraštas" (music by Gytis Paškevičius, words by Erika Drungytė) and "Our days as a holiday" (music by Vytautas Kernagis, lyrics by Vytautas Kernagis, Salomėja Nėris, Juozas Erlickas).

After the joint choir's performance, the concert program was presented by Inga Jankauskaitė, a performer who surprises every time, bright, high-quality humor and real emotions. The group "Sisters on wire" from Vilnius demonstrated the dreamy sounds of guitars and fresh vocals. At the end of the evening, DJ Mant Olin's performance rocked the stage and invited you to dance.

On September 8, the artistic vision festival "Magiškas parkas", located in the Dainų Park, also started. This year, the decorations for the park were created by the artist Mushuman from Germany, who gave visitors the opportunity to see intricate flower patterns and vast spaces of galaxies. The size and shapes of the installations took away the promise, and the structures covered with several layers of UV paint created a 3D effect. The mesmerizing background music only enhanced the sensations, allowing you to move into a world full of miracles and magic.

The organizers inform you that if you didn't manage to visit "Magiškas parkas", you can do it on September 9-10, and a festive concert with the group "FC Baseball", artist Monika Liu and the group from Ukraine "Kalush Orchestra" will be held on September 9. On that day, "Tarnybų miestelis" will also take place, organized entertainment with "Šiaulių dini 787" sponsor "RV Transport", amateur art festival "Autumn mozaika 2023" and many other events.
