Theater Studio "Gūžta" invites you to the "Yard"

2025. March 28. 5 p.m., on the occasion of International Theatre Day, the Šiauliai Cultural Centre Theatre Studio “Gūžta” (artistic director Inga Norkutė) presents the premiere – the fairy tale “The Courtyard”. The performance, which will take place in the chamber hall, is a gift for theatre lovers, full of emotions, surprises and secrets of the world of childhood. The fairy tale will take the audience to the world of children, where rules and leadership are formed through materiality. Young actors will reveal not only their talents, but also complex feelings that arise in the search for leadership and achievements.
Organizer – Šiauliai Cultural Centre. The event is free.

The Šiauliai Cultural Center’s theater studio “Gūžta”, established 7 years ago, has become an important space for Šiauliai youth art. Here, children not only learn the secrets of acting and public speaking, but also boldly experiment, search for themselves, improvise and embody different characters. During its years of existence, the studio has presented many memorable performances and participated in various theater festivals in Lithuania. Since the fall of 2024, the studio has been headed by Inga Norkutė, thanks to whom “Gūžta” continues its creative journey, inviting viewers to new theater experiences. On the occasion of International Theater Day, the “Gūžta” people invite you to the premiere of the play “Kiemas”.

“The theater is not only a stage and a curtain, but also a space where personalities grow, where the courage to express their thoughts, self-confidence and creative freedom are formed. It is gratifying to see how the theater studio “Gūžta” brings together young people, allows them to get to know the theater from the inside and provides an opportunity to speak on important topics. “Kiemas” is another important page in the creative work of young actors, which, I have no doubt, will not leave anyone indifferent,” says Deimantė Bačiulė, director of the Šiauliai Cultural Center.

The play tells the story of how rules are born by themselves in the world of children – leadership is measured by materiality, and power becomes indisputable. But what happens when an uninvited guest invades this carefully created order? The young actors of the Gūžta Theater Studio boldly explore the themes of power, authority and togetherness, reveal human feelings and raise the question: what really determines our place in the world?

Scriptwriter and director Inga Norkutė says that children are extremely sensitive personalities who are perhaps the best at conveying their inner experiences. “Childhood is not only joy and laughter. It is serious rules, fights for space, games that do not always end the way you expect. “Kiemas” is a journey through the mysteries of childhood, where every detail is significant,” intrigues Inga Norkutė, artistic director of the Šiauliai Cultural Center’s theater studio “Gūžta”.

It is hoped that this story of the performance will give the viewer an opportunity to look at themselves – to remember how each of us felt as children, how we created our own little worlds and what influence those around us had on us.

The organizers are pleased with the audience’s interest in the upcoming performance – invitations were snapped up in an instant. Please note that the event will be attended first by spectators with invitations, and later by all those who wish, if there are free seats.
