The premiere of the play "The Widows" captured the attention of the people of Šiauliai

On April 22, 2025, the Šiauliai Cultural Center hosted the premiere of the play “Widows” by the amateur theater “Durys” (artistic director V. Dargis) – the seventh creative work of this collective, based on the motifs of the play by the famous Polish playwright S. Mrožek. This is a tragicomic performance that invited the audience to look at the human relationship with life, love and loss through the prism of paradox and absurdity. It is expected that the performance will become a valuable work both in the theater community and in the hearts of the audience.
Organizer – Šiauliai Cultural Center.

On the evening of April 22, applause sounded in the Great Concert Hall of the Šiauliai Cultural Center – the premiere of the play “Widows” by the amateur theater “Durys” took place here. The classic theme developed in the performance – love and death – takes on new shades through the perspective of black humor. The play is full of paradoxical phrases, unexpected situations and absurd decisions that invited the audience to look at reality differently – to get rid of inertial thinking, awaken awareness and meet with themselves.

The premiere was warmly received by the audience – the audience not only laughed, but also thought. After the premiere, the participants shared their impressions of deep emotional experiences, and for some the performance became a personal touch on topics that are often difficult to talk about – about loneliness, loss, silence and hope. More than one viewer said that they left the hall with new thoughts and a feeling that will remain for a long time.

The performance featured both long-time members of the theatre – Vilija Krausienė, Loreta Murzaitė, Danas Bičkauskas, Jurgita Rimkevičiūtė Juškuvienė, and two personalities who recently joined the team, but have already clearly emerged – Valdas Ručinskas and Viktoras Jaselskis. Artist Odeta Pamerneckaitė.

The organizers hope that this production has encouraged not only theatrical experiences, but also conversations – about what is truly important in life.
