The celebration honoring young citizens of Šiauliai “I Am a Young Citizen of Šiauliai” will delight with a variety of entertainment for the whole family.

On June 1, 2025, from 1 PM, the Central City Park of Šiauliai (entrance from Aušros Ave. side) will become a joyful gathering point for families – the traditional celebration honoring young citizens of Šiauliai “I Am a Young Citizen of Šiauliai” will take place. This event has symbolically marked the beginning of summer in the City of the Sun for many years and annually brings together hundreds of families to celebrate new life in the community and spend meaningful time together.
Organizers – Civil Registry Office of Šiauliai City Municipality Administration, Šiauliai Cultural Center. The event is free of charge.

An initiative that has been alive for more than twenty years will invite the people of Šiauliai on June 1 to celebrate togetherness, the importance of family, and provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the growing city. This year, the Mayor of Šiauliai, Artūras Visockas, will solemnly greet nearly 400 newborns born between May 1, 2024, and May 1, 2025, and their families. The youngest participants of the celebration will receive “Young Citizen of Šiauliai” certificates – a symbolic document signifying their belonging to the city community. Along with the certificates, children will also receive symbolic commemorative gifts.

“Every new life is a joy for the whole city. Together we grow and build Šiauliai. I thank the families of the young citizens for trusting to create their lives in the City of the Sun – growing families are indeed our city’s greatest strength and future,” says Mayor of Šiauliai Artūras Visockas.

The celebration is aimed not only at the little ones but at the whole family – this year the park will host creative, educational, and interactive spaces offering various entertainment: from drawing and coloring to educational activities and active engagements. During the event, it will be possible to meet police officers, take pictures in a themed photo studio, explore ideas for children's summer camps, or participate in interactive games.

A plein air art space will be open for creators, where the whole family can draw together. Everyone is invited to take part in the creative art plein air “Drawing Childhood” – children, parents, grandparents, and other creative citizens, who will create drawings about childhood and share the festive spirit. The organizer of the plein air – Šiauliai Cultural Center – informs that the artworks will be on display until June 4.

The event organizers draw attention that only pre-registered residents of Šiauliai will be able to receive the “Young Citizen of Šiauliai” certificates. The registration form can be completed by May 26 on the website of Šiauliai City Municipality (www.siauliai.lt) or in person at the Civil Registry Office (Varpo St. 15, Šiauliai).
