Photography Exhibition “Ethnocultural Connections in Lithuanian and Ukrainian Life”

The photography exhibition, reflecting the wedding preparation traditions of two nations – Lithuanians and Ukrainians – transports us to a stylized setting of the early 20th century.

Each frame invites us to reflect on how traditions shape our identity and unite people across different cultural spaces.

The moments of preparation for a traditional Lithuanian wedding are sensitive and symbolic: the welcoming of the matchmaker, the meeting of the bride’s and groom’s entourages, the blessing from the parents, and the farewell to the family home. These rituals bear witness to the respect for family and the role of the community in life’s transitions.

In the photographs depicting Ukrainian wedding preparations, vivid elements of folklore are revealed: handmade clothing, songs, and ceremonial rituals. The moments captured by the Ukrainian author convey a living connection to ancestral heritage.

This exhibition is more than wedding photography – it is a bridge between nations, between the past and the present.
