“Children’s Easter in Rėkyva” – a celebration of togetherness and spring joy for the whole family

On April 12, 2026, at 1 p.m., a cheerful and colorful spring celebration for the whole family – “Children’s Easter in Rėkyva” – will take place at the Rėkyva Cultural House and park of the Šiauliai Cultural Center (Energetikų St. 7). During the event, visitors will enjoy the concert “Dancing Easter” by the dancers of the Šiauliai Cultural Center choreography studio “Impresija” (art director Inga Širvienė), as well as creative workshops, traditional Lithuanian games, egg-rolling competitions, and entertainment with the Easter Granny.
Organizer – Šiauliai Cultural Center. The event is free of charge.

Children’s Easter (Velykėlės) is a part of the Easter celebration dedicated to children, full of games, movement, and creativity. In Lithuania, this tradition is associated with Atvelykis – the first Sunday after Easter, when attention is given to children. During Velykėlės, eggs are decorated and rolled, hidden eggs are searched for, and various games are played, all accompanied by togetherness and joy. It is an opportunity to nurture Lithuanian traditions, encourage children’s creativity, and welcome spring together with family.

Following the renovation of the Rėkyva Cultural House, there is a goal to create new traditions of community gatherings, and “Children’s Easter in Rėkyva” is becoming one of the first steps in this direction – a space where families, children, and the community come together.

“Children’s Easter is one of the most beautiful spring celebrations, where traditions, creativity, and togetherness meet. We want children not only to have fun, but also to get to know our culture through experience, and for families to have an opportunity to spend time together,” says the director of the Šiauliai Cultural Center, Deimantė Bačiulė.

In Šiauliai, this beautiful tradition will come to life at the Rėkyva Cultural House, where the celebration will begin at 1 p.m. with the choreography concert “Dancing Easter.” The Šiauliai Cultural Center choreography studio “Impresija” will perform on stage, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in a performance full of movement and music, reflecting the awakening of spring, lightness, and the joy of life.

From the start of the concert until 4 p.m., games and entertainment with the Easter Granny (Vita Taučienė-Rezgienė, art director of the folklore ensemble “Sidabrinė gija” of the Šiauliai Cultural Center) will take place in the park of the Rėkyva Cultural House. Together with her, visitors will be able to try traditional and creative games – “Egg Fishing,” “Chicken Feet,” “Animal Croquet,” “Egg Threading,” participate in egg hunts and rolling competitions. An educational activity “Easter Patterns” will also take place.

Entrance to the concert is with free invitations, which will be distributed from April 7 at 9:00 a.m. at the ticket offices of the Šiauliai Cultural Center and Rėkyva Cultural House, as well as online at www.ticketmarket.lt (number of invitations is limited). Meanwhile, everyone is welcome to participate in games, educational activities, and other events in the park – you can join at any time from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
